Pay expectations among Singapore's young talent dipped 1.2% to $3,308

Are they becoming cheap?

Universum today launches the latest findings from its annual survey conducted among university students in Singapore.

For the second consecutive year, the Universum Top 100 Ideal Employers student survey reveals undergraduates are managing their salary expectations; the average expected monthly salary has decreased by 1.2 per cent to $3,308. This indicates a closing gap with the average monthly salary drawn by fresh graduates in 2013, according to the Graduate Employment Survey 2013.

A total of 7,294 university students have participated in the largest survey of its kind in the country, which took place between October 2013 and January 2014.

Extending from last year’s findings, future talent wish “to be dedicated to a cause or to feel that (they are) serving a greater good” and rank it third in importance among nine career goal options. The top two career goals remain “to have work/life balance” and “to be secure or stable in my job.
