Rage applying, moonlighting, and quiet quitting emerge as leading employee trends in 2024

Inadequate pay is among the main factors driving these employee trends.

The hiring landscape in Singapore this year will be defined by moonlighting (18%), rage applying, and quiet quitting (14%), according to the latest survey by Indeed.

“Factors behind these trends include inadequate pay, negative workplace culture, lack of career progression and flexibility,” Indeed commented.

Correspondingly, flexibility (20%), pay increase (16%), promotion and career progression (14%) and learning and development (13%) are the main aspirations of employees in Singapore this year.

Additionally, employees who perceived themselves as working in a job with a negative workplace culture are four times more likely to leave their workplace versus those who rated their organisation's workplace culture as extremely positive.

To meet these new goals, 31% of workers claimed they would look for new jobs this year.

Of the employees wanting to move jobs in 2024, 42% said they wish to join a larger organisation for better resources, pay, and career prospects.
