Reasons why firms should consider hybrid working scheme: IWG

It saves them commuting expenses and reduces their carbon footprint.

If businesses implement hybrid working, it will save them over $13,716 for each employee for commuting expenses, the global workplace group, IWG, said in its latest report.

After the firm found that 88% of job hunters target hybrid working setup, IWG CEO Mark Dixon said companies will miss out on the best talent if they nix shifting to a hybrid workforce.

“With a buoyant job market after a challenging couple of years, workers are demanding more of their employers and their roles. Gone are the days when salary was the only factor when considering a job offer, and nothing better demonstrates this than the rise of hybrid working,” said Dixon, in a statement.

By shifting to a hybrid model, Dixon added that businesses will not only promote work-life balance amongst employees but also minimise carbon footprint with reduced commuting.

The workspace company also found additional data that hybrid working is increasing demand for suburban and rural office space. It noted how workers are refusing to choose long daily work travel and instead prefer working remotely in their communities.
