Sales, marketing professionals dominate Singapore hiring scene
Engineers and administrators were also in high demand.
Sales and marketing executives dominated the Singapore hiring scene in 2015, according to a survey by Jobstreet.com.
The survey also revealed that Sales & Marketing, Engineering, and Admin & Human Resources were categorised as the top three specialisations that employers need the most. These categories also fall under the top three most difficult to recruit specialisations because they are high in demand, and companies have problems filling those positions because of the meager suitable hires.
The survey also prompted employers to review their top staffing challenges for this year. The talent crunch that they faced was evident in the results. The top three contributing factors included insufficiency of candidates to interview for vacancies, insufficiency of applicants for advertised positions, and heightened challenge to retain talent. Also, only 7% of employers did not participate in any hiring activities in 2015.
The top two reasons for employers to hire next year were identified as replacing or filling essential positions to guarantee that their business operations run uninterrupted (41%), and intensifying recruitment activities to prepare for expansion (26%).
Things may also start to look up for workers next year as most of employers surveyed expressed plans of either expanding their business, making current salary packages more attractive or boosting bonuses pay-out in 2016.
