
Singapore CEOs' pay reveals flat trend at $875,000 per year: survey
But remuneration dipped 3%.
Hay Group released its Singapore Top Executive Remuneration Report 2014 report, which shows that the median total pay for Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) remains flat at S$875,000 per annum in Financial Year (FY) 2012/2013, similar to the previous FY, while the company profitability dips slightly by 0.5 percent.
Based on data from the latest annual company reports collected as of 29 November 2013, the report analysed remuneration data of over 1,000 top executives from 260 listed companies in the Singapore Exchange of various sizes across nine major industry sectors which include commerce, construction, finance, hotels/restaurants, manufacturing, multi-industry, properties, transportation/storage/communication and others.
It reviewed the pay practice, including the pay level and pay for performance, for CEOs and top executives which include key functional executives such as Chief Operation Officers (COOs), top Finance executives, top Human Resource executives and top Marketing executives.
A close look at the table reveals that CEOs in large-sized companies take home a median total remuneration of about S$4.42 million per annum in FY2012/2013, three percent lower than last FY, while those in medium-sized companies are paid a median total remuneration of about S$1.76 million, 17 percent higher than last FY. For small-sized companies, the median total remuneration level for CEOs is about S$625,000, similar to last FY.
Large-sized companies have a market capitalisation that exceeds S$3 billion while the market capitalisation for medium-sized companies ranges from S$500 million to S$3 billion. In the case of small-sized companies, the market capitalisation is lower than S$500 million.
