Singapore has the most women CEOs in the world: Deloitte Global

Of the CEOs in Singapore, 13.1% are females.

Singapore took the lead globally with 13.1% of CEO roles in the country being held by women.

Region-wide, a 2.7% increase from 2018 was also seen and is consistent with the 2.8% increase globally.

In terms of women in board seats, Singapore also led the region with a 3.9% increase. The Philippines, Thailand, and Malaysia follow, with percentages of 3.8%, 3.6%, and 3.4%, respectively.

According to a study conducted by Deloitte Global with The 30% Club, the value is a 3.2% change from the previous study held in 2018.

However, the average tenure for women in the Lion City took a hit from five years to four-point-four years.

Following behind Singapore are Sweden and Thailand, with percentages of 12.4% and 11.6%, respectively.

“2022 could be a year of opportunity for the appointment of more women on boards as companies re-evaluate the needs of their board in a post-pandemic business climate,” commented Seah Gek Choo, Center for Corporate Governance Leader, Deloitte Southeast Asia.
