Singaporeans are 'maximalists' when it comes to using AI in work: study

They use AI multiple times a week and encourage others to use it as well.

Singaporeans are mostly “maximalists” when it comes to using artificial intelligence (AI) in the workforce, according to a study by Salesforce.

Of 1,031 workers surveyed in the Slack Workforce Lab research in August 2024, 25% are maximalists— characterized as using AI multiple times a week, and actively encouraging others to use it.

Maximalists reportedly use AI at work to increase their capacity and get more work done, cloud-based software company Salesforce said.

Almost the same share are “superfans” (23%), who are excited and admire AI advances, but aren’t making the most use of it in their work.

The “underground” (22%) worker followed, described as those who use AI often. Unlike maximalists, however, they are hesitant to share with their colleagues that they are using AI.

The last two distinct AI personas that made up Singapore workers are the “observers” (17%) and “rebels” (13%). Observers are yet to integrate AI in their work, whilst rebels avoid using AI and consider its usage “unfair.”
