
Singapore's population ballooned 1.6% to 5.4m
That's as at end-June, 2013.
According to the Department of Statistics, there were 3.31 million Singapore citizens as at end-June 2013.
Together with 0.53 million permanent residents, there were 3.84 million residents. Including the 1.55 million non-residents, Singapore’s total population was 5.40 million, a 1.6% increase from a year ago.
Singapore's Population Trends 2013 reported increases from both the citizen and non-resident populations. In 2013, the number of Singapore citizens grew by 0.9 per cent, comparable to the growths in the last three years.
The number of permanent residents decreased by 0.3 per cent in 2013, as opposed to an increase of 0.2 per cent a year ago. Growth in the number of non-residents moderated to 4.0 per cent in 2013, from 7.2 per cent in 2012 and the peaks of 15 per cent in 2007 and 19 per cent in 2008.
