SIT opens new Punggol campus for academic year 2024
Students from two clusters are the first to experience the new campus.
Around 3,800 students are set to commence the academic year 2024 in the new Punggol campus of the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) this September.
One of the two campus plots, the “SIT Campus Court,” will accommodate the students from academic clusters Business, Communication and Design, and Infocomm Technology. The other plot, “SIT Campus Heart,” is targeted to be ready by the earlier part of 2025.
The new campus is located within JTC’s Punggol Digital District and is poised to be “a dynamic hub of innovation and collaboration.”
“The digitally enhanced learning spaces at Punggol Campus and advanced curriculum initiatives will enhance the SIT educational experience, equipping our students with the skills needed to thrive in the digital age,” said SIT President Professor Chua Kee Chaing.
Some of its features are 27 laboratories for hands-on Infocomm Technology learning, an Autonomous Vehicle lab, and the Heterogeneous Info-Store for Teaching & Skilling that allows students and academic staff to access real-world data from the campus so that they can work on applied projects.
Starting in September 2024, all SIT students can also enrol in the new dDigital Competency Roadmaps. These programmes offer structured online courses in emerging technologies like data analytics, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, low-code programming, XR, and blockchain. Designed to enhance students' digital skills and prepare them for the digital economy, these roadmaps are available through SIT's learning portal, the institution said.
