Staff well-being seen as top challenge in Singapore education: survey

The survey was conducted with 23,754 adults from 30 countries. 

Twenty-six percent (26%) of Singaporeans believe that staff well-being is the greatest challenge faced by the education system, according to IPSOS Education Monitor 2024.

Over 1 in 5 cited inadequate teacher training (22%) and generative AI (20%) as other challenges faced by the education system.

Singaporeans emerged as are the most concerned globally when it comes to the issue of gen AI in the education system, trailed by Argentina and Ireland, where 17% of respondents cited gen AI as an education concern.

Outdated curriculum and overcrowded classrooms are also concerns, with 18% of respondents citing this.

Challenges in unequal access to education, political/ idealogical bias, and insufficient usage of technology were named by 15% of those surveyed.

Singaporeans also bemoaned the lack of public funding, safety and security, and high dropout rates with 14%, 13%, and 9%, respectively. 

Only 8% of Singaporeans cited inadequate infrastructure as a challenge in its education system.
