State-backed programme to reskill 1,600 wholesale trade sector workers

The programme aims to support 1,200 job placements.

The Jobs-Skills Integrator for Wholesale Trade (JSIT-WST) was launched during the “Workforce Transformation for Wholesale Trade Sector” event.

“We aim to engage more than 1,700 companies, support more than 1,200 job placements as well as reskill and upskill around 1,600 workers in the industry,” Kok Ping Soon, CEO of the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) said.

First announced in 2023, the JSIT-WST initiative aims to support SMEs and mid-career workers as the sector grapples with rapid digital advancement and increasing sustainability requirements.

Under the JSIT-WST, SBF will deploy Jobs Skills Advisors (JSAs) for the provision of customised advisory and centralised training resources.

Co-chaired by SBF and EnterpriseSG, the advisory committee comprises public and private sector representatives to provide insights and ensure alignment with wider government efforts.
