Support for women entering leadership roles needed: Deloitte
Singapore is 54th out of 156 markets in the 2021 Global Gender Gap Index.
There should be a significant scope to back female employees who seek to enter leadership posts in business and political industries, consulting firm, Deloitte, said.
According to its report, Deloitte said there are improvements in the female economic representation and opportunity in the market.
It cited that the resident labour force participation rate of women in the country has been rising steadily from 57% in 2010 to 64.2% in 2021, narrowing the disparity with men, which recorded 77.2% in 2021.
Despite these achievements, Deloitte said the representation of women in senior leadership could be more enhanced.

Aside from this, working conditions in the market should also be addressed by implementing flexible work arrangements as the new workplace norm.
“Increased workplace support can incentivize uptake of paternity leave, and more equal sharing of family responsibilities,” said Deloitte.
