UOB, Singapore Polytechnic open branch concept for students
It will help polytechnic students practice and gain work experience.
United Overseas Bank (UOB) has launched Hangout@UOB, a new branch concept that will help Singapore Polytechnic (SP) students gain vital work experience, according to a news release.
Designed and managed by SP students, the concept involved 40 lecturers and students from different schools where they participated in a design workshop to determine the features suitable for the needs of polytechnic students. UOB gave the students free reign on the aesthetic and functional elements of the branch.
UOB, along with tech firm SenseTime, also installed a digital wall within the branch that uses artificial intelligence (AI) for social engagement, the first Singaporean bank to do so.
SP students from the School of Business will manage the branch under the supervision of the bank. They will undergo a 22-week stint in which they will be trained in branch operations, customer experience, and risk and compliance. Branch interns will assist students who will apply for UOB’s financial solutions online.
