What are Singaporeans’ top preferred work benefits?
Workplace perks have become more significant for six in 10 employees in Singapore.
If asked to choose between two jobs with the same aspects, more than seven in 10 employees in Singapore would select the company which offers remote or flexible work, data from Zoom’s “Workplace Benefits Preferences Survey” showed.
The report also revealed that six in 10 (65%) employees in the Lion City still rank having a flexible schedule that allows them to work the hours that are productive for them as a top workplace perk.
Flexible work ranked second to competitive pay and benefits as top workplace perks.
The Zoom report also found that flexible work makes 87% of Singapore employees happier.
“These survey findings suggest the classic 9-5 model is no longer considered an effective way to work – no matter the stage of life the employee is in. Rather, employees prefer to have control over time and manage their efficiency, determining how they work best while still meeting their employers’ expectations,” the Zoom report stated.
When choosing between two jobs with the same compensation and benefits packages, seven in 10 (73%) will choose the job which offers flexible hours and location or the one that comes with professional development opportunities.
“As professionals grapple with the challenge of juggling work, family responsibilities and upskilling themselves, the significance of professional development remains paramount. This is also in line with the government’s national vision to reskill the workforce to seize new opportunities,” the report stated.
