SBR’s Made in Singapore & Designed in Singapore Awards are now accepting nominations
Firms can nominate until 29 October 2021.
Despite the economic disruptions brought upon by the pandemic, Singapore’s manufacturing sector still continued to exhibit growth. At this time where innovation and digital transformation are the keys to success, companies who stand out amidst the competitive market are considered as the leaders of the industry and are expected to shape the future of manufacturing.
With this, Singapore Business Review is officially accepting nominations for the Made in Singapore Awards and Designed in Singapore Awards 2021. Now in its 5th year, the awards programmes aim to honour astounding Singapore-registered local and international manufacturing firms that produce game-changing business-to-consumer and business-to-business products.
The Made in Singapore Awards is an initiative hailing innovative products across industries that are manufactured in Singapore. Its past winners include Elid Technology International Pte Ltd, JCS Biotech, Aqua-Terra, Osteopore International, and Biosensors International Ltd.
Meanwhile, the Designed in Singapore Awards lauds products that are conceptualised by a Singapore-based office but manufactured outside the country. Past winners include The Coca-Cola Company, Givaudan, Glico Asia Pacific., HILL-ROM, dormakaba Singapore, and Kerry Ingredients (S) Pte Ltd.
“This has been an incredible recognition for us and my team because this is an endorsement that we can create something new, and in this case, something that is truly first in the world, right here in Singapore. I know we're a small market and we are referred to as the little red dot. But in this instance, this little red dot managed to create something that travels all around the world,” said Lim Kean Yew, integrated marketing communications director for Singapore and Malaysia at The Coca-Cola Company. “So I think this award is proof that we've got the talent, we've got the capability, and we've got the technology here to lead the world,”
The Coca-Cola Company was awarded the SBR Designed in Singapore Awards 2020 - Beverage category for their crossover between a lightsaber and Coca-Cola bottle.
To be eligible for the awards, the product should have been publicly released over the last 24 calendar months. Products that are launched prior to the said period can still be nominated as long as they have undergone recent improvements.
Manufacturing firms can choose from over 50 industry categories including apparel, architecture, building, computer hardware, electronics, energy and power, healthcare, hospitality, luxury, medical, pharmaceuticals, residential building, telecommunications, and transportation amongst others.
A panel of industry experts will judge the products based on branding, unique selling points, product effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
The nomination period is open until 29 October 2021. Winners will be honoured at the awarding presentation on 25 November 2021.
