Hush hush: Do you want to know the secret for your best night's sleep?

Look no further as Tempur's sleep engineers and scientists have the answers.

If there’s one thing that Tempur, manufacturer and distributor of mattresses and pillows, promises it is their products would make you feel so perfectly relaxed as if you were floating.
And to reach wider market, Tempur Sleep Sanctuary opened its flagship store last November 5 at Nassim Road. Tempur Sleep Sanctuary covers 1,500 sq ft housing an extensive range of Tempur products in Singapore, including a Pillow Bar.

The new Tempur store in Singapore draws its inspiration from its Danish heritage which exemplifies contemporary Scandinavian style with clean lines in a neutral palette of earthy brown, elegant white and modern grey. It’s accented with soft and warm lighting, rustic wooden flooring, the intimate space is truly a relaxing sanctuary where one embarks on a journey to find their best night’s rest.

According to Janet Soh, country manager of Tempur in Singapore, it is the first Tempur store in Singapore to incorporate a Scandinavian aesthetic, while being situated in one of the most prestigious neighbourhood in the city. She notes that a sense of calm permeates the air allowing customers to completely relax once they step in the new store. This she said allows the staff to take them on a journey for the ultimate Tempur experience.

Janet also adds that not only does the new flagship store houses the most extensive range of Tempur product s, it also features a pillow bar which claims to be the first of its kind in Singapore. The Pillow Bar features tablets with a specific software that helps customers to identify the best pillow for their sleeping style. She explained that Tempur made sure that modern technology is incorporated into the Pillow Bar. The store also highlights the Tempur North collection which is inspired by the vast and unspoiled nature of the North.

With the current challenges in the retail industry, Janet told SBR that Tempur faced a critical issue to ensure the assessment of the new store’s potential financially and strategically before the expansion happened. So when asked about the brand’s future plans, she said that direct stores continue to be their strategic focus instead of purely looking into expansion.

“We are focused on continually improving the brand experience and consumer journey in our direct stores,differentiating them from other distribution channels,” Janet said. 

The story behind the magical material

Tempur story began when NASA developed a pressure absorbing material to cushion and support astronauts during the strain of lift-off. They needed an exceptional way of evenly distributing weight and pressure. This unique material later became TEMPUR.

Since then, through further research and development by Tempur’s scientists and engineers, the company have extended this technology to create a collection of mattresses and pillows that give you your best night’s sleep. Janet claims that TEMPUR is the only mattress and pillow recognized by NASA and certified by the Space Foundation.

Today, Janet said that only a handful of top Tempur scientists know the proprietary formula to make TEMPUR material. She notes that they manufacture the material in their own production facilities in Denmark and never outside company-owned facilities.

“Each year, we invest more in research and development to ensure that our technology continues to deliver the best sleep possible. Tempur’s R&D scientists and engineers tirelessly seek new product innovations and continually test existing products to ensure the highest standards of quality,” said Janet.
