Chart of the day: Transport engineering output shoots up 32% in June

Output in the marine & offshore engineering segment increased by 44%.

This chart from the Economic Development Board of Singapore shows the recorded output of all clusters in the manufacturing industry, with transport engineering having the most growth at 32%.

This was because of increased activity in the marine and offshore engineering segment and aerospace segment which grew by 44% and 32.2%, respectively. H1 2022 output in the transport engineering cluster grew by 17.7% compared to the same period last year.

Aside from the transport engineering cluster, only the general manufacturing sector logged a double-digit growth at 10.1%. This shows that for the month, manufacturing output has started to slow down. Meanwhile, precision engineering grew by 5.6% whilst the electronics cluster grew by 2.3%.

Biomedical manufacturing and chemicals went down by 9.2% and 11%, respectively for the month of June.

Total manufacturing output went up by 2.2% in June.
