CNMC Goldmine to expand Kelantan plant capacity by 60% with new investment
The investment will increase the plant’s processing capacity to 800 tonnes of ore per day.
CNMC Goldmine will expand the capacity of its main gold production plant in Kelantan by 60% to boost output and profitability.
The company will spend up to $2.7m (RM9m) to increase the processing capacity of its carbon-in-leach (CIL) plant at its flagship Sokor mine to 800 tonnes of ore per day, up from the current 500 tonnes per day.
The expansion will be funded using internal resources and is expected to be completed by H1 2025.
Gold-bearing ores obtained from Sokor’s mining operations are sent to the CIL plant to be processed into gold doré bars, which are then sold to licensed buyers in Kelantan.
CNMC Goldmine is also building another underground mining facility at Sokor, which will enable the extraction of more higher-grade gold ores at greater depths for processing at the CIL plant. The project is expected to be completed by early 2025.
