Manufacturing output contracts 4.8% In March
The electronics segment fell 15.3%.
Singapore’s manufacturing output reversed the 2.6% growth in February after falling 4.8% YoY in March, or 8.7% excluding biomedical manufacturing output, according to the Economic Development Board.
The headline figure was dragged down by heavy output declines in the electronics (-15.3%), precision engineering (-13.3%) and chemicals (-2.7%) segments.
On the other hand, the decline was offset by output growth from biomedical manufacturing (13.7%), general manufacturing (5.8%) and transport engineering (1.8%).
On a three-month moving average basis, manufacturing output dipped 0.5% and 2.6% on a month-on-month basis.
