
Singapore’s billionaire industrial stocks averaged 12% in YTD total return

The top two largest capitalised Industrial stocks in ASEAN are listed in Singapore Exchange (SGX), namely Jardine Matheson Holdings and Jardine Strategic Holdings. The Singapore industrial plays include 10 of the ASEAN region’s largest 20 Industrial plays.
According to SGX, there are 22 Industrial stocks with a market capitalisation listed on it. These 22 stocks have a combined market capitalisation of S$213.3 billion and averaged 2014 year-to-date total return of 11.6%. The five largest capitalised Industrial stocks are Jardine Matheson Holdings, Jardine Strategic Holdings, Keppel Corporation, Singapore Airlines and Singapore Technologies Engineering. Among these five stocks, three of the stocks namely Jardine Matheson Holdings, Jardine Strategic Holdings and Keppel Corporation are GICS-categorised Industrial Conglomerates.
These 22 stocks have generated mixed performances in 2014 year-to-date. Among the 22 stocks, 13 generated gains and nine generated declines. The five best performing stocks among the 22 Industrial stocks were United Envirotech, United Engineers, Singapore Post, SMRT Corporation and ComfortDelGro Corporation. These five stocks range from different sub-industries according to GICS, which include Environmental & Facilities Services, Construction & Engineering and Trucking. These five stocks have a combined market capitalisation of S$15.5 billion and averaged year-to-date total return of 54.3%.
According to the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS), stocks categorised under Industrials, include companies that are involved in different businesses under the genre of Capital Goods, Commercial & Professional Services and Transportation.
