CHART OF THE DAY: Only 38% of Singaporeans prefer buying online vs in-store shopping

Online-first buyers in Singapore are likely to try new brands.

Singaporeans still prefer to purchase products from physical stores, YouGov has found.

According to its latest survey, only 38% of consumers in Singapore prefer buying things online rather than in-store.

In the same survey, YouGov found that online-first buyers in the Lion City are more likely to try new brands than average shoppers (62% vs 40%).

Online-first shoppers are also more likely to welcome the use of Augmented Reality (AR) to enhance their shopping experience (54% vs 31%) and are more receptive to Out Of Home (OOH) advertising (58% vs 42%).

“Online shoppers don’t just roam the web for the best deals. They pay attention to offline, non-digital advertisements more than the average consumer, but prefer following up on new products and services with web searches from the convenience of their phone,” You Gov said.
