Do loyalty programmes influence Singaporeans’ flight booking decisions?
Six in 10 consumers are members of at least one airline loyalty programme.
Close to half (47%) of airline loyalty program members in Singapore will look for flights amongst airlines where they are loyalty members first, data from YouGov showed.
Some (14%) will choose flights only from the airlines they are a member of.
Meanwhile, two in 10 airline loyalty program members will search for flights that fit their travel schedule first.
Some (29%), however, say their airline loyalty program memberships do not influence the international flight tickets they book.
YouGov also found that men are significantly more likely than women to prioritise airlines where they are loyalty members at the outset of their search for international flight tickets (51% vs 41%).
Across generations, Gen Zs are more likely than other age groups to start their flight ticket search based on loyalty membership (52%), whilst Baby Boomers are least likely to (41%).
Notably, more than a third of Baby Boomers (35%) say their airline loyalty memberships do not influence the international flight tickets they ultimately book.
